Divorce & Separation

This intention of this offering is for a supportive and empowering group for divorcing or separating men and women. The divorce and separation process can be profoundly challenging and evoke every tendril of loss, separation, frustration, sadness, discontentment, betrayal, and identity issues that we have ever had or felt that lay unresolved or dormant within us until this time where we can now no longer get away from them. The power of every separation and divorce holds within its journey that power to launch us directly into the heart of these issues that now at this difficult time allows us to open to them, work through them and ultimately feel triumphant as group participants reclaim their own lives, solidarity, new visions for the future, and deepened, mature, and compassionately evolved new sense of self identity and relationship.

Through this ongoing weekly support group we will embark on the powerful transformative journey that a separation or divorce launches every person forward into. Using the stories of loss, sadness, and partnership non fulfillment from each participant’s unique relationship story, group members grow in their connection with one another, learn about unconscious patterns and behaviors, and work to reclaim themselves fully as the group goes forward. Within the safety of the group using interpersonal and group process, we will begin to heal the split between the projected desire of the relationship in the beginning and the breakdown into the real relationship that occurred, and recover the lost or disowned pieces of self so that group members can heal and develop a more whole sense of themselves within the context of any relationship in the future. We will also look at the culture’s relationship to loss and endings, the impact of the transition on family and children and ways to address issues that may arise from there, fears and longings of new relationships, and dealing with loneliness and abandonment issues.
